How Much Does a Bathroom Remodel Cost?
The cost of a bathroom remodel varies depending on the size of the bathroom, the scope of the project and your choice of materials. Typically, a small bathroom or a half-bath could be remodeled for $5,000 or less. However, a full 5'x8' bathroom remodel can cost on average around $25,000 for all of the materials and labor. A master bathroom with double vanities, separate shower, tub and toilet areas can start around $30,000 and go up from there.

How Long Does a Bathroom Remodel Take?

The time it takes to remodel a bathroom depends on a few variables. The physical size of the room and the scope of work will both have the most impact on the duration of the bathroom remodel from start to finish. Other variables that can impact the timeline are the materials selected. Custom shower doors and custom stone countertops both require additional time from measuring and templating to fabrication and installation. Tile shower bases and walls also require additional preparation and installation steps that can add to the overall project duration. Generally, for a small bathroom, plan for 3-4 weeks from start to finish. For larger bathrooms and master bathrooms, 6-8 weeks is a more ideal time-frame without taking into account surprises or delays that can occur after work begins.

What Should I Tackle First When Remodeling My Bathroom?

The first thing to tackle in your bathroom remodel is developing a solid plan. Decide what items will be coming out and what items will be staying. Create a detailed bathroom design or hire a professional to assist with your bathroom design to make sure you're ordering the right size and quantity of all your products. We recommend building your bathroom remodel on paper before building it in real life to make sure you work through any possible issues before you being demo. Have all of your products on hand and have your installers lined up to keep your project moving forward and reducing delays.

What are the Steps Involved in a Bathroom Remodel?

Not including the planning phase, the steps to remodel any bathroom should be as follows:

  1. Deliver all material to jobsite prior to start of project
  2. Review final bathroom design and supporting documents with installation team to make sure everyone is on the same page with the bathroom project
  3. Protect flooring and walkways from work area in garage or outside into the home and to the work area within the home (Install dust walls at work area to help reduce dust transfer
  4. Demo the space according to the scope of work and haul away trash
  5. Frame any new walls, soffits, any niches in the shower, blocking for grab bars, shower doors or other items requiring support.
  6. Rough in utilities - run all electric, plumbing and mechanical items as per plan.
  7. (At this point, the shower base pan would be set if it is pre-fabricated and the shower valve will be mounted. The new vent fan needs to be mounted and the duct work should be installed and connected)

  8. Schedule framing and rough inspections
  9. Hang drywall on all walls and ceilings
